With its latest dive project, Ocean Crawler decided to partner with TechnoTimeMachine (TTM), an independent design studio in Madrid, Spain. The result? The wild and labyrinthine dial of the Ocean Crawler Lume Rush Diver watch. Cleverly designed to be at once visually engaging and highly practical, the Lume Rush uses a twin-layer sandwich dial to create a dazzling light show at night.
A slim and elegant handset does its job without distracting from the main event. The bright Super-LumiNova C3 illuminates each of the Arabic numbers, which are arranged alternately on the outside and inside of an encircling line that only breaks between the 8 and each of the double-digit numerals. The gaps in what appears to be a continuous circle are necessary so that the top layer of the dial can be a single piece. This ensures absolute accuracy of the luminous cut-out. Without that, the precise design would simply not work. A lack of text on the dial gives a clean, bold look, and the logo (which would normally be pad-printed on the dial) pops up as a fully-lumed centerpiece, completing the complex design.
